We appreciate your interest in Good Shepherd Presbyterian Child Development Program. Please feel free to visit our center, observe classes and inquire about our curriculum.

It is our objective to provide a loving, secure, Christian atmosphere where children can learn at their own level and relate positively with others. We strive to provide a balance of physical, social emotional, spiritual and academic age-appropriate activities for our preschoolers.

Learning is accomplished through a variety of structured and non-structured experiences. We desire to help each child develop a knowledge of his world with self-esteem and confidence.

Hello! I am excited that you have found our program and are interested in learning more about us. We are a part day church-based preschool in Southeast Charlotte. We serve children ages 1-4 on a part day basis throughout the week. We are currently involved in registration for the 2008-2009 school year. Registration Procedures 2012

We are so excited that you are interested in our program at Good Shepherd Child Development Program. Please be sure to read these procedures thoroughly and complete the necessary forms to be a part of the registration process. We hope that this process will be easy and simple for everyone. If you have any questions, please call the preschool office at (704)362-2319.

Step 1: Come and take a tour of our program! We want to tell you all about our program and then show you our classrooms in action. You can get all of the information that you will need to make an informed decision about registering your child with us. We offer tours every Tuesday at 10:00am or by appointment.

Step 2: Complete the registration form (available at your tour) in its entirety. Please note any special requests for placement (siblings, days, classes, etc.). Also be sure to indicate any special needs (allergies, delays, etc.) that may help us to place your child appropriately.

Step 3: Attach the $80 non-refundable registration fee per application to the completed registration form. Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church members may deduct $20 from the registration fee. Make checks payable to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Child Development Program (GSPCDP). Applications received without the registration fee attached will not be considered for placement in the program. Your registration fee will be returned if no spot is available and you are placed on our wait list.

Step 4: Return the completed registration form with registration fee to the preschool office by mail or in person by the following dates:

February 8, 2012 – Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church Members

February 8, 2012 – Returning Students and Siblings

February 10, 2012 – General Public

Step 5: All placements will be made by lottery. All special requests will be taken into consideration where possible. The director reserves the right to make the final decision on placements based on the need to balance class make-up by gender, age, special needs, etc. Every effort will be made to register siblings on the same days if requested by the parent.

Step 6: Confirmation letters will be distributed by email February 22nd to confirm your placement in the program or your placement on the wait list. If placed on the wait list, your registration fee will be returned until a position is offered to you.

Step 7: An invoice will be distributed to indicate the new tuition rate for next year. The first tuition payment for 2012-2013 will be due by May 1, 2012 and is non-refundable. The second payment will be on September 1, 2012 and the final payment for the year will be April 1, 2013. All payments will be expected unless a 30 day notice is given for withdrawal from the program.

Our staff are highly qualified and prepared to teach young children. They work together to plan activities for each day that your child is here at preschool.

We have 2 teachers in each classroom with each group of children.

Our children are very special to us and we strive to see them become all that God intended for them to be. We know that each child is unique and an individual.

Good Shepherd Child Development Program admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to all students at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, or other school-administered programs. Admission preference is given to preschoolers who are members of this church and those currently enrolled in our program prior to public registration.

Good Shepherd Child Development Program will make every effort to meet the needs of your child physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially within our abilities based on our staffing, ratio and family resources. We will work with families in making necessary plans to accomodate your child in our program. We look forward to working with you at every stage of your child's development to ensure a warm and secure environment for your child to grow and learn.

Parent Involvement

Families are special to us! We encourage parents to be involved in many ways throughout the preschool year. We have a Parent Council that works to organize fundraisers, plan parent events, offer parenting workshop for parents, etc. Each class has room moms/dads that help with classroom activities during special times of the year. We invite family members into our classrooms to share about special careers or hobbies that they may have. The doors are always open and you are invited to visit your child's classroom anytime!

Here at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Child Development Program we are a mission of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. We seek to provide a place of Christian nurture and educational opportunity for young children in our community. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and strive to meet the high standards that this organization puts before us.

We use a play-based curriculum that allows children to learn through play. We value the learning of each child and want to give them as many opportunities as possible to grow and develop. Our classrooms are designed with learning centers and materials that children can enjoy individually and with peers. The staff integrate all academic learning into the learning centers and help children to gain the necessary pre-reading, pre-writing, and pre-math skills that they will need for success in kindergarten.

We plan each day to meet children where they are and to help them develop in all domains of development: physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual. This is done through many different activities during the day such as; learning centers, circle times, outdoor play, daily routines, chapel time, music time, storytime, and many special and fun activities that challenge children to grow and learn.
